The Aeron Valley is a well wooded valley with a mix of fields and woodlands mainly on the slopes of the valley sides. The landscape is dominated by the old estate at Llanerchaeron that has left a characteristic impression on the agricultural landscape and on the architecture of the valley. Woodland types vary with impressive native woodlands, old estate woodlands and conifer plantations. Past planting policies have left their impression with old Forestry Commission plantations, many on Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland sites, now in private ownership.
Sustainable Forest Management manages a number of woodlands in the valley.
Some of these are undergoing PAWS restoration, transformation to continuous
cover and some are on farms diversifying and improving agricultural production
by planting new Shelterwoods under Forestry Commission grant schemes.
